David Fleming is an experienced somatic movement educator who has been teaching a variety of movement forms for over eight years . He first trained in Nia in October 2008. Nia being a fusion of elements from dance, somatic awareness and martial arts. He is one of only a few Nia Black Belts in the UK. Alongside Nia in 2010 he also trained as Nia 5 Stages teacher. Nia 5 Stages is a developmental movement approach based on recapitulation of the five developmental stages Embryonic, Creeping, Crawling, Standing and Walking. In May 2012, David became a Chakra Aerial Yoga teacher and in July 2015 he stepped into a new role as Chakra Aerial Yoga Teacher Trainer. With Hanna Somatics, he first trained with Martha Peterson in March 2013 when he hosted the first Somatic Exercise Coach training in the UK. He has since hosted Martha six times and has assisted on four Somatic Exercise Coach training with Martha as well as one Fundamentals of Hanna Somatics course with Theresa Evans another Hanna Somatic Educator from Canada.. In December 2017, he completed Clinical Somatic Educator training with Martha Peterson and her fellow Hanna Somatic Educators Laura Gates and Chris Lownes. In the last five years he has developed vast experience with Hanna Somatics providing one2one;, teaching workshops around the country including County Durham, York, Lancashire, Lincolnshire and Liverpool as well as regular workshops and classes in Leeds. Alongside his public practise, he has also taught Somatics classes at Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD) with young dancers, offered one2one Clinical Somatic sessions and has taught Somatics workshops with dancers as part of NSCDs Healthy Dancer Day..
